If we also get our
pet/companion people to write also this may have a greater
affect as well...
It all starts with a small
crack in the door and then who knows where regulations will
end; perhaps in the end the sport of dogs and showing and
breeding ethically will have been stopped altogether while
the puppy millers win out thru petshops, etc..

Thanks Sharon for contributing
these news!
Hi, Folks,
I am so grateful to everyone who took time to write, but must
ask one more time; please take some
minutes of your life to write these folks one more time.
It may be working. :-) :
My husband spoke today
with his very good friend who works for the Senate
Agriculture Committee. This is the latest scoop:
There was to be a hearing on the AG Subcommittee that
Santorum heads scheduled for September 7. It was
postponed because all of the witnesses could not be
gathered in time. Before it can be reported to the full
committee (considered and accepted by it), there are
some changes that need to be made?? Wish I had that
scoop but......So, again another temporary reprieve.
However, this person's words to my husband, "I thought
AKC was pushing this thing. That is what we are told
and lobbying efforts indicate." aghast!!!
Anyway, the Ag Committee has been referring calls to
Senator Santorum's office because one day recently they
got so inundated with phone calls from those against
PAWS, it jammed their phone lines.
I can only say this again. The word should go out: if
anyone has a Senator on the AG Committee, they need to
contact him/her now. If one of their Senators is on
Senator Santorum's subcommittee, even better. I can
publish a list of these Senators (both full and
subcommittee) if you wish and the states they
represent. We must remember most legislative work is
done in committee. We can work with the non-AG
Committee Senator members, BUT if we can stop this thing
before the Sub and/or full Committee reports it to the
Senate body as a whole, we have won the war in that body
of Congress at least.
Nothing has been rescheduled but be advised of where we
are. I hope to get the word when the legislation is
rescheduled to be heard from the subcommittee.
Mary
Feel free to cross post, etc.
I'm down on one knee,
metaphorically, and *begging* you all to make this campaign
work.
Warm Regards,
Suze <guardly hopeful but ever aware that even winning this one
is just the battle and not the war>
