  • I started showing German Shepherd Dogs in about 1980. I finished a few GSD's and wanted a smaller dog as a companion and to do obedience with. I got a Sheltie and that was it. I obtained a CD on him. Sadley he was lost to a freak blood infection. So on I went to find something for the conformation ring. That was around 2002. I was unable to aquire a show puppy as I was not knowen in Shelties so I bought a nice Tri Male. He ended up being the foundation for Vision Shelties.
  • I choose Shelties for thier loyalty and egar to please temperment. I started showing in 2002. The tri male I got was older and did not like the ring. He picked up a few points under some nice breeder Judges. I decided to breed him and my 1st litter produced my 1st Champion CH. Visions Stylin' an Profylin "Styles"
  • I started with a male. I leased some quality girls to take to him. I have done things slower than most, but I feel I am kicking into gear now. I wanted movement and temperment. I breed him to his mothers full sister and that was my foundation. I love the boys so I had to be careful and not keep boys only LOL
  • I have to say Rod N Staff Shelties has been the foundation for me. I bred tight and I am Now doing some loser linebreeding to bring in qualities I feel I need in my dogs. I have 2 nice dogs currently I am showing. I am planning on doing some obedience so no future litters are planned.
  • I hate to say it but is was getting a quality dog and finding a good mentor. I have basically figured out things as I went along. I ask questions of anyone and everyone that would help me. I still have a lot to learn. I feel things are really moving forward for me now.
  • I have a grooming room in my home. I start with my puppies at a very early age. I put them on the table and play with them, feed them up there and start brushing them, tryng to make it a happy time. As they get older I take them places and encourage the nieghborhood kids to come play with them. I also make sure they get individual attention. I like to walk my dogs. I feel this is good bonding time.
  • I, like many tried diffrent foods and supplements. I found a food I like very much about a year ago, it is a salmon based food. I supplement with Missing link, but do not give the recomended dose I 1/4 it. I also feed some canned with the evening meal.
  • My biggest responsibility is producing puppies and dogs with a good temperment. I sold a show puppy once at 9 months of age and it did not work out well for me. Now anything I do not keep goes on a spay nueter contract. So I have to produce puppies that make wonderful pets. I am hoping to get more of my dogs in good show homes.
  • Dont wear your heart on your sleve. Decide what you want to do and go for it. As I said I like to show my self but know sometimes I need a handler. My biggest goal is to have a Champion Bred By dog. Learn from many people, everyone does things a little different, find what works for you.
  • I want to finish a Champion out of the Bred By class. Breeding to the Standard is always first and foremost, not getting caught up in the fads or breeding just for winning dogs. I want good sound producing dogs as well as winners. I am very happy with my tri male and plan to concentrate on him and my Bi-Blue girl. I would also like to get back into obedience. For now I have no plans to do any breedings.
Description
We live in Southern Illinois, right in the middle of the Mississippi Flyway. All our dogs live in the house and are a very big part of our daily lives. We show in AKC conformation. We have not been in the breed long and have produced 2 Champions, with one more very close to finishing. I am not planning any more breedings in the future as I have 2 nice dogs to keep me busy. I am a member of the Crab Orchard Kennel Club, our local all breed club. I like to show myself and try to do as many shows as I can, but this is not always possible so I do have a very good friend to help. We do all relevant testing on all of our dogs.
